our story
rahau is a gurmukhi word that means to pause, process and reflect before moving forward, whether in profound ways or simply in the decisions you make in your everyday life. every choice you make is the vote you cast for the type of world you wish to live in. ultimately, with the rise of natural disasters around the world, we have learned we must live in harmony with nature, making conscious choices with respect to the food we eat, the cars we drive and the clothes we wear.
rahau is a small, female-led, slow-fashion business that promotes ancient indian art and craft via textile. all our pieces/peaces are made to order to avoid issues of deadstock. we have close relationships with our tailors and vendors, understanding that we go further when we support each other and contribute to each other's success.
finally, rahau is a love letter to the the motherland (india) for all the stories, experiences and epiphanies she has inspired over the years. what began as one year to travel and explore textile, terrain, culture and ideas has turned into 10 years and counting of infinite and profound truths and a more meaningful existence that always begins with rahau.
